The JCT600 Bradford League’s five-year search for a new club is over.

President Keith Moss revealed at the league’s annual dinner at the Cedar Court Hotel that New Farnley will be joining for next season.

They have been given an early release by the Solly Sports Central Yorkshire League after accepting an invitation by the management board to enter the Bradford League.

Moss said: “I believe this is good news for our league and we thank the Central Yorkshire League for allowing them to join us next season, rather than waiting until 2014.

“Their facilities are good, the club is ambitious and it is a boost for the league to have an injection of new blood.”

New Farnley’s arrival means that there will now be 14 teams in Division Two next season and it will eliminate blank dates.

Five clubs have joined the Bradford League and stayed there in the last 26 years – Pudsey Congs (1987), Manningham Mills (rejoined 1996), Morley (1998), Gomersal (2000) and Woodlands (2001).

However, the league have lost 11 clubs since 1973 – Bradford (1973), Laisterdyke (1986), Eccleshill (1988), Ben Rhydding (1998), Queensbury and Yorkshire Bank (1999), Lidget Green (2000), Drighling-ton and Mirfield (2004), Salts (2005) and Esholt (2008).

Drighlington (1982-2004), Ben Rhydding (1987-98), Esholt (1999-2008) and Mirfield (2001-04) have both joined and left the league in that period.
