Chris Adams admits he is not guaranteed to repeat his Sussex success at Yorkshire but has vowed to do everything in his power to bring silverware to Headingley.

The 36-year-old was unveiled as both Yorkshire skipper and head of professional cricket on Wednesday following his decision to leave the county he led to two County Championships.

"I cannot promise trophies but I will try my best," he said. "We are in the entertainment business and I want to bring a little flair and discipline to the side."

Adams - who has effectively taken over from David Byas, who has been offered the role of head of cricket development - has been impressed with the Tykes' ability to take hard decisions.

He said: "Off the field, Yorkshire have shown that they are prepared to move in a very positive direction and now the team needs to follow suit."

"(The players) will drive the environment and I will marshal it. I want them to get up every morning and feel excited at playing for Yorkshire," he said.

"I also want to spend some time learning about the structure of the club and I want to speak to the players and see if we need to change anything."

Sussex did the double over Yorkshire in the Championship last season, and Adams said: "One of the reasons may be that they relied too much on Darren Lehmann and Jason Gillespie to do the business instead of having 11 players all leading from the front with one goal in mind and that is to give their all."
