Two long-serving officials in the Bradford Mutual Sunday School Cricket League are standing down.

They are league secretary Joy Wigglesworth and fixture secretary Graham Langton, with both citing a combination of work pressure and unending hassle regarding their cricketing roles.

Langton has had the weekly job of checking 60 to 80 match sheets, many of which haven’t been filled in properly, and said at the league’s latest monthly meeting at Clayton Rugby League Club: “It has been an absolute nightmare.”

However, he has promised to prepare the fixtures for the start of next season and help whoever takes over his role to bed in.

Wigglesworth, who has often been rung at inconvenient times, confirmed that she would also be standing down at the annual meeting on November 20.

League chairman Nick Spachis said: “Graham and Joy will be big losses.”

The league have their annual dinner tomorrow night at the Dubrovnik Hotel, Oak Lane, Bradford (8.00).

Guest speaker is former referee Kevin Lynch.

He holds a Football League record for sending off five players in a match between Wigan Athletic and  Bristol Rovers, four of them from Rovers.
