Wyke suffered a shock 12-7 defeat at the hands of Dodworth in Pennine League Division Two.

Wyke travelled to Barnsley full of confidence and looking to secure top spot.

The first half was a tight affair, with only scrum half Aidy Doherty’s drop goal separating the teams.

Wyke extended their lead when Michael Wormald capitalised on a strong drive from Simon Owen to score a converted try.

However, the visitors were quickly hit with a double blow from Dodworth that, despite the huge efforts of Ian Wormald and Ashley Hutchinson, they could not reverse.

Clayton secured their first points of the campaign with a fine 44-0 win over West Craven.

Scorers for Clayton were Paul Crossley and Scott Pendlebury with a brace apiece, Elliot McIlroy, Jason Woolham and Dane Bairstow, who also kicked eight goals.

Undercliffe Wildboars continue to top Division Four after their demolition job on Siddal. They ran out comfortable 68-10 winners thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Willy Woodhead and two tries apiece from Gavin Jarvis, Aidan Scully and Ryan Dixon.

Other scores went to Danny Dixon, Isaac Brown and Kenny Smith.

West Bowling A beat Worth Village 54-28 in Division Six, with winger Karl Spring (3) and centre Adam Reardon (2) leading the way.

In round two of the Barla Yorkshire Cup, Birkenshaw put up a real fight before going down 34-20 to Norland Sharks.

Birky held a 20-12 lead at one point with tries from Chris Clough, Karl Robinson, Ross Gratton plus four Matty Gowland goals but the Hull outfit hit back to claim a place in round three.

Stand-off Liam Darville’s hat-trick and a brace from Jack Dawson helped West Bowling book their place in the next round. Bowling were too strong for Methley Royals as they cruised to a 47-22 victory. Richard Lumb, Scott Butler and Chris Anderson also crossed for Bowling.
