Kieran Brown may only be 13 but he has just fulfilled an ambition stretching back a decade.
When he was a toddler, Kieran said he wanted to represent England at ice hockey, and now the Thornton Grammar School pupil has been selected for England under-13s.
It is a reward for a punishing training regime of weekends and off-peak weekday sessions at Bradford Ice Hockey Club, and it is a very much a family affair as his dad Andy coaches the under-16s and his mum Louise manages one of the younger age-group sides.
The England call-up is the culmination of a terrific few years for Kieran, who has been top points scorer for the under-12 North team for the past three seasons, as well as being under-11 Northern Conference captain earlier this year.
He was also the Under-11s’ most valuable player and All-Star player at the Junior Inter-Conference Championship in 2012, as well as being the tournament’s most valuable player across all the age groups.
