Bradford City missed out on a chance to go top of the Women’s Northern Combination when their scheduled clash with Leeds City Vixens on Thursday night was called off due to a waterlogged Thackley pitch.

They are due back in action on Sunday at lowly Liverpool Feds and, after a convincing 5-0 win over bottom club Wakefield, are looking to maintain their unbeaten start.

Wakefield face Huddersfield Town, who were held to a 0-0 draw at Stockport in their last outing.

On target for City against Wakefield were Caroline Omboyi (2), Charlotte Stuart (2) and Bridie Hannon.

But in the North East Regional League First Division, City A were beaten 2-1 by leaders Rothwell. Dominique Hoad’s goal was eclipsed by Sarah Griffiths and Louise Ikin.

In the same section, Kirsty Delaney (2) and Rebecca Granger scored for Keighley in their 3-1 win at Doncaster.

But Kirklees went down 4-1 at Rovers Foundation, Olivia Dangerfield replying, while Ossett Albion – having lost their goalkeeper with a broken arm in the first half at Westella – lost 7-4. Claire Popplewell (2), Joanna Atkinson and Nicola Swift were the Albion scorers.

Guiseley climbed to fifth place in the Premier Division with a 4-1 win over Hull City thanks to Caroline Hulme (2), Lindsey Hopton and Sally Jones scored.

Bradford Park Avenue earned a welcome 4-0 win over Pontefract in the West Riding League Premier Division, despite some fine work from the visitors’ former Silsden keeper Hannah Smith.

Nic Chamberlain broke the deadlock with a penalty before captain Sarah Huby (2) and Laura Wolfenden, from long range, wrapped it up.

Brighouse stay top after a 4-3 win over Brayton Belles but, after a point in their opening game, Ossett Town were left smarting from a 12-0 thrashing at Harrogate Railway and next face second-placed Tingley.

Newcomers Cleckheaton Sporting go to Ilkley still looking for their first Division Three point after losing 7-2 at home to Silsden Reserves, while Dewsbury Rangers – having lost their only game to date – are at Wortley Reserves.
