Farsley face a difficult FA Trophy preliminary round replay on Tuesday after failing to make home advantage count for a second week on the spin as they drew 1-1 with Radcliffe Borough.

Neil Parsley’s men have stuttered in league and cup early in the season and were knocked out of the FA Cup at Ossett Albion last midweek after conceding home advantage with a draw at Throstle Nest in the original meeting.

Farsley, who had to battle back from a goal down against Borough yesterday, will be hoping lightning does not strike twice this midweek.

Boro’s Chris McDonagh netted from a Ben Wharton cross for the only goal of the first half, and early in the second period Jamie Baguley hit a post.

The home side had to wait until the 84th minute before levelling and they had substitute Ryan Carr to thank after his long-range effort hit the back of the Boro net.

* There was little to cheer for the area in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase with three of the four local clubs still in the competition being beaten.

Only Thackley bucked the trend as they eased to a 2-0 win over Celtic Nation at Dennyfield. Nicky Matthews broke the deadlock in the first half and Brice Tiani added on the hour mark.

Silsden also had home advantage but lost 3-2 to Northallerton Town, despite taking the lead. A Mike Garrod strike put the Cobbydalers in front but the visitors levelled through Adam Emson before the break.

The visitors edged in front early in the second half, Stephen Butterworth being on target, and even though Kevin Ryan restored parity, Emson won it for Town when he bagged his second.

Liversedge lost by the same score at Shildon. Ben Christenson and Sam Garvie gave the home side a half-time lead and the latter’s second ten minutes after the break made it a seemingly hopeless task for Sedge.

However, goals from James Rothell and Matt Bugg got them back into the tie but they just failed to earn a replay.

Albion Sports’ debut in the competition was spoiled when they went down 4-2 at Esh Winning. Karl Hall and Graham Sides were on target for the Bradford club.
