Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick is continuing to rebuild his squad for the forthcoming season.

Striker Chris Mason and winger Nicky Boshell are the latest players to move to Nethermoor.

Mason, 23, has been recruited from League of Wales side Bala Town.

He started his career at Bury and has had spells in Malta, with Florianna, and Sweden, with Ange IF.

Mason also played for Chorley before moving to Bala. Guiseley have signed him subject to receiving international clearance from the Welsh FA.

Boshell, the younger brother of Lions midfielder Danny, has had experience with Huddersfield Town and Guiseley’s new Blue Square Bet North rivals Bradford Park Avenue.

The new men are expected to be at Nethermoor on Saturday along with the rest of the first team squad after training.

They are expected to be there around 12.30pm to meet with the spectators who have been encouraged to paint the ground.

Supporters are urged to take along their paint brushes with work starting from 9.30am on both days.

Refreshments will be provided throughout both days as Nethermoor is spruced up.

“It is a chance for the players to meet some of the workers and the fans and to see the refurbishments for themselves,” said Kittrick.

Meanwhile, despite reaching the Blue Square Bet North play-offs for the past two seasons, Guiseley are still unfancied in many circles.

The Lions, who start their season with a long trip to Histon on Saturday, August 18, are only fifth favourites with both the league’s sponsors and 888.sport.

Ahead of them are Chester, FC Halifax Town, Gainsborough Trinity and Bishop’s Stortford. But Kittrick said: “It wouldn’t matter to me if we were tenth favourites or not favourites at all – let’s just get on with it and see where we finish up.”

The Guiseley chief thinks the fixtures computer has handed them a tough start.

Apart from the haul to Cambridgeshire first up, Guiseley’s first home fixture the following Tuesday is against Droylsden, with Kittrick warning: “You don’t want to play Droylsden early doors as they always start well.”
