Silsden boss Chris Reape is confident he will have a similar squad to last season when the new one starts with a trip to AFC Liverpool in the North West Counties League Premier Division.

The big kick-off is on Saturday, August 4 and a home match against Bacup Borough follows on Wednesday, August 8.

Reape said: “We have not lost any of the old guard so James Nettleton will be back but we could be missing James Mann.”

Nettleton picked up a double at the club’s presentation evening as he was named players’ player of the year and player of the year.

Reape added: "Netts is magnificent and just keeps going. James Mann says he is going to retire but we’ll see. I think he might be back.

“But if he doesn’t we have a young keeper, Chris Paulett-Briggs, who got some games in the first team towards the end of last season when Manny was doing the London Marathon. He is one of many good young lads at the club.”

Former Bradford City youth Joe Gaughan and Matty Moses both ended the season as first team regulars.

Moses picked up the reserve team’s players’ player of the year and the player of the year for the under-19s, while Gaughan was named under-19s players’ player of the year. Josh Kaine was player of the year for the reserves.

Reape added: “Joe was a regular first team player, once his situation with Rotherham United was settled, because before then he hadn’t played much football.

“He did very well in the senior side for an 18-year-old and he played a lot for the under 19s as well.

“Matty, a young right back, broke into the first team and we have Jake McEneany as well as Josh Kaine so we have a few good young ones coming through.

“We have a fairly young side and they have all gained another year’s experience so they should be even better this coming season.”
