City plan to unveil their new home kit by the end of the month.

The Bantams will also have a new change shirt – but the pink will stay on as an alternative.

The ‘voltage cherry’ kit was a controversial choice for away games last season. It will be relegated to the third option, replacing the previous black, but could still appear on occasions.

Director of operations David Baldwin said: “The voltage cherry is relegated to the third choice because it has a two-year lifespan.

“I know some people weren’t sure about the colour but it might get dusted off every now and again. The black kit is at the end of Nike’s cycle so has been naturally removed.”

The launch of the home shirt will coincide with the club shop moving back into the stadium. It has shifted from its current premises to allow work to start on the free school set up by the ‘One in a Million’ charity.

The shop refit was due to begin yesterday in the existing players’ lounge.

Baldwin said: “There are a number of projects going on at present with relation to the sale of the building for the free school.

“That will involve relocating and refitting the shop. Subject to how long that takes will determine when the home shirt is launched.

“It will be unveiled as a retail sale purchase and the aim is that the team will be wearing it in time for pre-season.”

There have been plenty of rumours about the design of the new claret and amber top. A picture was posted on the internet with somebody appearing to wear a York City-style ‘V’ shirt at the Swindon game.

Baldwin said: “There are all sorts of rumours and stories knocking about.

“But when selecting shirts, various different ones are produced to give you a picture of what it looks like away from the page.

“From that perspective, all will be revealed in the fullness of time.”

Meanwhile, City have praised fans for their continued support after confirming that 8,417 season tickets (including 1,400 50/50 flexicards) for next season had been sold by the deadline for the first pricing structure.

That is almost 2,500 more than when the club ended their ‘early bird’ season ticket offer last season and only around 300 less than the entire total sold for the 2011-12 campaign.

A Bantams spokesman said: “Your contribution to this football club, as always, does not go unnoticed and is extremely appreciated by everyone within the Coral Windows Stadium.”
