Steve Kittrick will select players who show a hunger for the task ahead as Guiseley go into their Blue Square Bet North play-off second-leg tie against Nuneaton Town at Nethermoor on Sunday with the contest all square.

Nuneaton looked on course to make the most of home advantage in Wednesday night’s first leg but the Lions snatched a last-minute equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw.

With the exception of suspended striker James Walshaw, Guiseley go into this weekend’s game with a full squad.

Kittrick welcomes the bonus of no injuries but has to decide who makes the starting line-up and who gets a place on the bench.

He said: “It is all to play for after the other night. Nuneaton are a good side at home and they made things difficult for us.

“We are as confident as we can be going into the home leg, without being over confident. If we play to our full potential, we can do it.

“But we have to be right on top of our game if we are to get the job done because no-one has a right to go through, so I have to pick a team that is hungry.”

The players were brought in for training today and Kittrick kept a close watch on them to gauge their frame of mind.

It was a difficult and testing game at Nuneaton after Guiseley had conceded a second-minute goal.

Kittrick will have the team in his head but, without revealing his hand, he said: “I wanted to have a good look at them going through their paces and then ask them the question.

“The effort was there on Wednesday but it just didn’t work out. That’s football.

“We are as close to the final as we can be without being in it yet, so it is there to go for – but there is still work to do.

“My job is to pick the right players but not just 11 because we need everyone who is in the 16 on the day to be up for it.”

Guiseley and Nuneaton are battling for the right to face the winners of the FC Halifax Town v Gainsborough Trinity tie in a one-off game to reach the Blue Square Bet Premier, which is England’s fifth division.
