The curtain comes down on a long season for Silsden tomorrow night when they host Maine Road in a rearranged North West Counties League Premier Division fixture.
The Mancunians should have visited Keighley Road in the middle of last month but that and a subsequent date fell foul of a very wet April.
A waterlogged pitch caused both attempts to be postponed, leaving the clubs to squeeze the game in on a Friday.
It is far from ideal as Maine Road played in the League Cup final tonight, losing 5-0 to Bacup Borough, and Cobbydalers secretary Jim Rosser is already on his holidays.
Before he left Rosser said: “In my defence, the season should have been over, but the league extended it to give the clubs time to play the remaining fixtures.
“It hasn’t been a bad one for us overall and we are going to end up just outside the top half of the table but with a lot of promise and hope for next season.”
