Bradford Dudley Hill 62, Egremont Rangers 16

Bradford Dudley Hill rattled up another cricket score as they outclassed National Conference Division One rivals Egremont Rangers at Parry Lane.

Hill certainly know how to give their followers the tremors after another slow start that saw the visitors race into a ten-point lead in as many minutes following tries from loose forward Leon Crellin and wingman Jack Murray, one of which was converted.

Full back Aiden Batey started the recovery when he burrowed his way over from the ruck, leaving hooker Nathan Kitson to add the extra two points.

Hill earned parity in great style when scrum half Andy Robinson staged a clever runaround from the scrum to cross out wide.

Wingman Neil Wall, who was only declared fit shortly before kick-off, then pounced on a precision cross-kick from stand-off Danny Softly for a cracker at the flag.

Egremont reminded the crowd that they were still on the hunt for a victory when stand-off Tony Leak sprinted under the posts to edge them in front again at 16-14.

But Robinson produced a simple drop-off to send second-row forward Nathan Lee galloping to the chalk and Wall repeated his earlier effort by winning the chase to a grubber kick in the corner. Kitson added the conversions to see the hosts into the sheds 26-16 up.

Egremont needed a good start in the second half to keep Hill in sight but instead found themselves in deep trouble when centre Lewis Evans stretched out to plant the ball on the whitewash.

Kitson pirouetted out of a tackle to cross under the sticks, before Hill were reduced in numbers when Wall was dispatched to the sin-bin for verbally abusing his opposite number.

Yet centre Craig Tyman ran straight through the flimsy cover for a copy-book effort and wingman Martin Southwell then struck twice in quick succession at the corner flag. The deflated Rangers players were being run ragged and further pain soon followed when Softly changed into overdrive to outpace the cover for a belter.

Substitute forward Gavin Mezals brought the Egremont agony to an end with a final touchdown, leaving Kitson to add his seventh conversion.

It all emphasised that the classy Hill outfit are the team to beat in the weeks to come, having now amassed a staggering 164 points in their last three outings.
