Division 1B side Stanningley Albion retained the Bulk Sports Suppliers Sunday Alliance League Intermediate Cup with a 4-0 victory over Division 1A rivals Wyke Rangers at Manningham Mills in front of a large crowd.

The Stanningley bandwagon rolls on. Since joining the league in the 2008 season they have won the Division Four title at the first attempt, finished Amateur Cup runners-up, won the double of Division 3B and Amateur Cup the following season and, last year, were crowned Division 2A champions with 18 straight wins.

They are leading their division at the moment and look set for Division 1A football next season.

Albion took the lead with their first attack when a Wyke defender deflected a shot past goalkeeper Daniel Thompson.

It was all one-way traffic in the first half, with the Division 1B side getting behind the Rangers defence time after time, and only an outstanding display of goalkeeping by Thompson kept the cup holders at bay.

Stanningley added further goals in the first half through Jarrett, with two, and Cairns.

Rangers fought back after the break and created some goalscoring opportunities of their own but Thompson was the busier of the two keepers and he deservedly won the man of the match award.

In the Premier Division, Relay Recruitment Rovers beat Westwood Park 8-4 in a goal-fest, with Tuseif Arshad scoring a hat-trick.

Sandy Lane clinched the Division One title with 4-0 win over bottom club Ventus United, with Matthew Cavanagh, Stuart Cotterill and Michael Pinter getting on the scoresheet.

In the battle for third place, Cuedos Rangers edged a five-goal thriller at Lane Ends.

Simon Rawnsley’s first-half brace was cancelled out in the second half by Matthew Hanna’s double. Chris Durn hit a late winner for the visitors in a match that was a terrific advert for the league.

In Division 1B, Lane Ends moved into second place with a 4-1 victory at Prospect Celtic – Dale Howard hitting a double for the visitors.

Beldon Sports retained second place in Division 2B with a 7-2 victory over Lidgett Green and Inter Mill Lane kept up the pressure with a 2-0 win over Second West.
