Nick Scruton columnWell, where do I start this week? It’s been an eventful few days to say the least!

Everyone was as shocked as you probably are to find out about the situation we’ve found ourselves in.

Our CEO, Ryan Duckett, gave a talk to the lads on Tuesday morning to explain what has happened and tell us where we all stand at the moment.

I’m sure you can imagine, all the players were a little taken aback with the news and we wanted answers.

‘Duck’ has been great with us, though, and has been completely honest about everything.

It certainly wasn’t an easy speech to make, to tell the boys that our jobs and livelihoods are on the line.

But he’s handled it well and the club have things in place to try and get us out of this situation and moving forward.

If we can jump this short-term hurdle, then in the long term Bradford Bulls will be a lot better off.

The club have a few initiatives in place to raise funds and get the money to get us back on track.

All these initiatives require the backing and support of not only Bulls fans but the RL community too and we have all been blown away by the response we have already received.

In just 48 hours, over £100,000 was raised and this just shows the true spirit that is present in rugby league.

The Widnes chairman has donated £10,000 and Jamie Peacock and Leon Pryce have donated their Super League winners rings to be auctioned off in a bid to raise more funds.

These are just a couple of examples of the generosity and good will that so many people are showing and with more of the same we are well on our way to getting out of trouble.

On behalf of all the lads I want to say a massive thank you to anyone who has pledged, donated or bought a virtual ticket – it means so much to us.

Back to rugby though now and it’s time for us to do our part and get a win tomorrow night against Hull FC.

It will be a really tough game but I think that this week’s events have brought us even closer as a team and I know everyone is determined to come home with the two points.

I’m going to finish by saying that I can’t wait to see you all on Good Friday for our Easter clash with the Rhinos. There’s a huge push to get a record crown at the game and what a message that will send out.

I hope to see everyone there in their numbers – get pledging, get behind the team and let’s save this fantastic club together.
