Nick Scruton column

I had the pleasure of watching the Saints game from my hospital bed and the boys did me proud.

A win against St Helens hasn’t come around too often since I have been at the Bulls and I think that just shows how much we’ve come on this season. We were the better side on Saturday and fully deserved the result.

It was good to see Purtsy back on the field and I think if we can keep him fully fit he’ll be a big player for us – along with two of our other new signings this season, Keithy and Big Nas.

Keith Lulia and Jason Crookes are forming a dangerous partnership down our left-hand side at the moment and they will only get better with time.

Nas is a monster! The big fella has lost 11 kilos since he first came to training and he is looking in great shape. We’ve recruited really well this year and it’s great to see our new signings playing well.

It was brilliant news to read that Elliott Whitehead has committed his immediate future to the Bulls. Smelly is a cracking young player and a top lad and I firmly believe that international honours are just around the corner for him.

It’s a massive boost that he has chosen to stay at Bradford and shows the confidence that he has in the club’s future as he is a player that could have walked into any of the top clubs. Hopefully with his new contract money he can buy himself a new wardrobe and shake off his tag as team chav!

I’m not going to talk too much about my injury, apart from saying that the surgery went well last weekend and I will be doing everything I possibly can to get back on the pitch as soon as I can.

Everybody is looking forward to the Salford game on Sunday and hopefully continuing our good form and picking up another two points. Salford are an improving side and will be a good test for us, especially with our good friend Wagga (Wayne Godwin) in their side.

Let’s all get down to Odsal and cheer on another good win together. COYB!
