Bradford Dudley Hill chairman Kelvin Lockett admits beating Cougars in Sunday’s Challenge Cup tie would be a dream come true but is more concerned with his men doing themselves justice with their performance.

Jason Demetriou’s star-studded outfit are overwhelming favourites to progress into Monday’s fourth-round draw, when Super League clubs enter the competition.

But Lockett is determined that Hill, coached by former Cougars favourite Jason Lee, enjoy the occasion as they head to Cougar Park for the eagerly-awaited third-round showdown.

Lockett said: “Everyone just wants to enjoy the occasion. You always think about winning, but the most important thing is that we put in a good performance.

“We’ve got a lot of links with Keighley – guys like Richie Barnett and Neil Cherryholme have come through our ranks, while Jason Lee used to play from them.”

Cougars have fallen victim to Dudley Hill in previous years, losing at the same stage of the same competition back in 2004.

Lockett added: “Keighley’s confidence will be high but I’m sure Neil Spencer will be telling them about when we beat them a few years ago.”

Cougars player-coach Demetriou is set to be boosted by the arrival of new dual-registration signing James Davey from Wakefield.

Demetriou said: “James is a talented kid, and we’re looking forward to having him here as a perfect replacement for Jamaine Wray, who’s out injured at the moment.”

Demetriou admitted Dudley Hill’s 2004 triumph has been spoken about at Cougar Park. “It’s been mentioned, and I’m quite happy it has because it will make sure our boys stay on their toes.”
