Thackley will be hoping tomorrow’s Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash at home to neighbours Liversedge is more fruitful than last Monday’s derby at Brighouse.

Former Park Avenue, Farsley and Guiseley striker Mark Bett was sent off in the first half of the Bank Holiday clash as Thackley lost 2-0.

Despite his dismissal – after an alleged off-the-ball offence – he will be available to face Sedge as his one-game ban will not come into force this weekend.

Tenth-placed Thackley are just two spots above improving Sedge but remain seven points clear.

Brighouse Town forced their way back up the table following a six-point maximum over the holiday period but they face a big test tomorrow.

Back-to-back derby wins lifted Town to eighth spot ahead of the visit by fourth-placed Winterton Rangers.

Paul Quinn’s men have also played fewer games than most of their rivals.

In Division One, Albion Sports are hoping to reclaim the top spot they lost when all of their rivals played on Bank Holiday Monday.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men were left frustrated as their derby with Eccleshill United was postponed but will be confident of putting pressure on new leaders Pontefract Collieries with victory at home to third-bottom Grimsby Borough.

Eccleshill’s promotion hopes remain intact even though they have slipped to eighth place and they will also fancy their chances of a win at lowly Bottesford Town.

A victory would see the Eagles through the 40-point barrier.
