I’m happy to come off the bench to fill in for Flynny as the columnist again for this week.

He’s had it pretty bad and we all hope he gets better soon, though it is nice and quiet around the training ground!

It’s just turned four years now since I made my Bradford debut on loan at Accrington, although the last six months haven’t been the best for me.

At least I’m finally able to get back out on the pitch now. It’s good to play in the last two games and I just need to get more match fit.

I seem to be moving further and further back in the team as I get older.

I’ve gone from playing up front at the start of my career to centre half. I’ll probably finish off as back-up to Jonny Mac in goal!

I’ve played midfield virtually all my life but I’m beginning to get used to playing at the back. I’ve spent a little bit of time learning the position and I don’t mind.

To be honest, when you’ve been out of it for a long time, you’re simply happy to be involved anywhere. All that matters is that you’re out on the pitch again.

Apart from that ten-minute spell on Monday, we are looking really big and strong at the back. I think we’re getting a reputation and, knowing what centre forwards can be like, I’m sure that will put a few doubts in their minds.

You look at the squad now and there are a few older lads making their presence felt. We’ve got strength and power throughout the team and those are important attributes in our division.

We know we can give anyone a game after beating the likes of Southend, Shrewsbury and Crewe. We certainly aren’t worried about going to Watford.

There might be a few more glamorous Championship grounds but it makes a nice change.

And nothing beats the feeling of driving back up north with a good away result under your belt.
