Andrew Davies will put talk of his future on hold to concentrate on City’s present predicament.
The club want to extend the Stoke defender’s current three-month stay, which runs out after the FA Cup third round at Watford on January 7.
Phil Parkinson has already sounded him out but Davies – who is likely to have other offers – is focusing on more pressing matters for now.
He said: “We’ve had a little chat about it but I just want to look at the next five games and getting some results for the lads.
“Then obviously with about a week to go, I’ll probably sit down with the manager and see what the situation is and where the team are.
“We need to get some results and start winning games. The manager here is fantastic and we are all pulling in the same direction but it’s just important we get away from the bottom of the league.”
