Phil Parkinson won’t resort to any “gimmicks” to get City back on an even keel.

After back-to-back cup triumphs, Parkinson is today chasing only his third win in 13 league games since taking the Valley Parade hot-seat.

And John Hendrie believes his no-frills approach is just what the club need to turn things round.

Parkinson yesterday made Ricky Ravenhill the latest in a flurry of signings since he took charge in August.

The 30-year-old midfielder joined on loan from Notts County until January 14 and is likely to go straight into the squad to face Rotherham today.

Some fans remain unconvinced by the manager’s major rebuild of the team, with City still stuck at the wrong end of the table. But club legend Hendrie believes Parkinson will deliver long-term results.

Hendrie said: “I think it’s a coup for Bradford to get somebody like that. When I heard he got the job, my first thought was ‘well done’ to the club.

“I’ve been really impressed with his demeanour and the way he handles himself off the pitch and in the media. He’s approachable, talks sense and there’s no need for gimmicks or bravado.”
