Park Avenue boss John Deacey revealed that a contract dispute is holding up the arrival of a third new signing at Horsfall Stadium.

The Bradford manager has made two recent additions to his squad as Amjad Iqbal and Jimmy Beadle returned to the club but he is hoping to make it a hat-trick of captures.

Deacey remained tight-lipped about naming his target but the T&A understands the player is a full Pakistan international who has played alongside Iqbal and former Bantams centre half Zesh Rheman in World Cup qualifiers.

Deacey explained the delay in completing the move when he said: “With the other player, the situation is that he has been playing in the Middle East, so we also need international clearance for him.

“His last club has not released his registration and the ruling is that there has to be a 30-day period before the authorities can process any transfer.

“There has been some sort of contract dispute so that is why it is dragging on but he will be here.”

Avenue’s blip in form has come just as Deacey has entered the transfer market to strengthen his small squad but the two are not intertwined. The manager has always said he would be bringing players in when those who interested him became available.

Having snapped up Iqbal following his recovery from a career-threatening injury last year, Deacey unveiled Beadle this week.

The Avenue chief said: “Jimmy Beadle signed as soon as we got international clearance for him.

“He has been playing in Sweden but once he ended his spell there he wanted to come back to England and re-sign for Avenue.”

The attacking midfielder had a brief spell with Avenue on loan when he was a young full-time professional at Scunthorpe United.

Big things were expected of him but his development hit a ceiling and he drifted out of the Football League.

Meanwhile, Iqbal has still to make his bow again for Avenue, having been an unused substitute last Sat-urday before Monday night’s fixture against Kendal fell foul of the weather.
