Brighouse Town and Thackley both had to settle for home draws in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division last weekend but they remain in contention to snatch the leadership on Saturday.

Paul Quinn’s Town were top of the pile less than a fortnight ago and they are poised in fourth, just a point behind new leaders Bridlington.

Town travel to 14th-placed Armthorpe Welfare, who tested themselves in a friendly against Bradford Park Avenue in midweek.

Quinn said: “We will go looking for three points but will miss Anthony Haigh, who starts a three-game ban for his sending off at Maltby. He was superb last week.”

Thackley are two places behind Town but only one point worse off so a win at mid-table Long Eaton United could potentially take them top.

Liversedge are the only local Premier Division club at home. They welcome Staveley MW, who are managed by former Thackley boss Billy Fox and are just one point behind the Dennyboys.

In Division One, Eccleshill United are at home in a top-six clash against Hemsworth MW. The Eagles lost to leaders Worksop Parramore last Saturday in what was their first defeat in six matches.

Albion Sports could overhaul Worksop if they win at third-from-bottom Louth United and the leaders slip up. Albion’s midweek draw at Worsborough Bridge Athletic ended a five-match winning streak but consolidated their third spot.
