Curzon Ashton 3, Farsley 2 Farsley lost more ground on the division’s pacesetters when defeat at second-placed Curzon Ashton cost them third spot.

The result carried just as much significance for the home side because the win took Curzon to the summit, while dropping Neil Parsley’s men down a place to fourth.

The bigger concern for Farsley and their boss was losing keeper Tom Morgan with a suspected broken elbow.

Farsley were in the game right up until the final minutes. They had lost Steve Mallory to injury in the first half and then their keeper with nine minutes remaining while the game was poised at 2-2.

Curzon’s skipper Graham Kay had given the home side the lead midway through the first half when he headed home following a corner.

The visitors went into the interval on terms as Ben Jones netted a penalty in first-half stoppage time after Gareth Grant had been fouled in the area.

Kay was allowed another free header at a set piece in the 57th minute but the visitors came back again.

A 77th-minute shot from Jones was parried but Farsley substitute Dave Stead was on hand at the far post to net the loose ball.

Morgan was injured after clashing with an opponent at yet another set-piece and had to leave the field with his arm in a sling.

Curzon won the game in the 87th-minute when another corner led to a downward header and Andrew Watson shot home from the edge of the area.
