Leeds United’s Robert Snodgrass has been ruled out of the Scotland squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Spain with an ankle injury, the Scottish Football Association have confirmed. Wigan midfielder James McArthur has been called up.
Snodgrass was the third player to pull out of the squad after Blackpool pair Stephen Crainey and Matt Gilks, who were replaced by Lee Wallace and Cammy Bell.
And skipper Darren Fletcher became the fourth, having been struck down with tonsilitis before even joining the squad.
Scotland manager Craig Levein also has a major doubt over Kenny Miller, while Alan Hutton is also nursing an injury.
Miller has a minor tear in his groin and is likely to miss Saturday's clash against Liechtenstein in Vaduz, but the Cardiff striker is hopeful of being fit to face Spain in Alicante on Tuesday.
Hutton also sat out training yesterday with a knee problem but Houston expected the Aston Villa full back to be fit.
