Matt Duke wants City to wipe the slate clean against AFC Wimbledon.

The Bantams are yet to prevent an opponent from scoring in the league this season.

Goalkeeper Duke, who has been beaten nine times in his four appearances, reckons tomorrow would be a good place to start.

“Clean sheets will build confidence throughout the team, knowing we can shut up shop when we need to,” he said.

“It’s something we need to get into this team and we can then win games comfortably.”

City blew a lead at Crawley last week to leak three second-half goals and Duke admitted it has been a long week waiting to put things right.

He said: “It’s always the case when you lose a game like that. You want the next one to come as soon as possible.

“It was disappointing because we were solid in the first half but then went too open. In the second half we didn’t get any second balls and they overran us.

“It’s something we’ve been working on in training and hopefully it will come right on the pitch.

“There’s definitely enough in this squad to be getting up the table but we know it’s what you do in games that counts.”

Duke has not had the most comfortable start since signing a two-year deal on transfer deadline day.

“Goalkeepers are judged on clean sheets but sometimes you can get them when you’ve had nothing to do,” he said.

“Little things are getting punished and there have been a couple of ‘worldy’ goals, like the second one for Bristol Rovers and the first at Port Vale.

“People say it’s down to the defence sometimes but it’s all over the pitch. It’s a team game.”
