Guiseley find themselves in the unfamiliar position of having to bounce back from a defeat when they make the trip into Lincolnshire to take on Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.

A quarter of the way into the season the Lions are still third in the Blue Square Bet North Division table despite their midweek defeat to neighbours FC Halifax Town.

The derby factor contributed to that reverse as high-flying Guiseley were strong favourites at home to their lower mid-table visitors.

Steve Kittrick’s men even led 3-1 at the break but were overhauled as the Shaymen won 4-3.

They will need to be on top form for their clash with Trinity as the home side are immediately below them in the table and trail by just a point.

There could be no better opportunity for the Lions to re-establish their promotion credentials and keeping Trinity below them would do that.

Guiseley spokesman Stuart Allen said: “We didn’t play football against Worcester City (last Saturday) like we had done in the games before that and we were poor against Halifax, which was a huge disappointment at home against our nearest neighbours in the division.

“Steve is hoping for a reaction from the players for this game at Gainsborough because we really need one.

“There are no fresh injuries but midfielder Danny Boshell (groin) has missed the last two games and Danny Forest (hamstring) has been out longer.

“Bosh has a chance of being in the squad this weekend because he almost made it for Tuesday’s game but Danny Forest is not expected to be anywhere near just yet.”
