Guiseley 3 FC Halifax Town 4

Guiseley let a 3-1 half-time lead slip away from them as Halifax fought back to edge a tense Blue Square Bet North derby at Nethermoor last night and end the Lions' 100 per cent home record.

The Lions had started well and they broke the deadlock in just the second minute as Alex Davidson lashed in a shot from 25 yards.

The home side doubled that advantage in the eighth minute when Gavin Rothery slotted in from Simon Baldry’s flicked header.

Just before the half-hour, Lee Gregory pounced to net a rebound after Lions keeper Steven Drench had parried a shot. However, they were still two goals to the good at the interval as Rothery headed home a Lee Ellington cross on the stroke of half-time.

After the break the game soon turned in favour of the Shaymen. Just six minutes into the second half Danny Ellis turned the ball past his own keeper.

Minutes later, Terry Dixon - on loan from City's development squad - made it all square when he scored following a corner and soon after the hour mark Gregory netted his second of the night, which proved to be the winner.
