Skipper Guy Branston won’t tolerate a lack of effort – and doesn’t expect City’s fans to either.
The no-nonsense centre back has been quick to lay down the law ahead of tomorrow’s season opener against Aldershot and wants nothing less than 100 per cent.
A shrewd summer signing from Torquay, Branston has had no problem settling into the main leadership role in Peter Jackson’s team.
He said: “If I see anyone slacking I’ll be on them, same as the gaffer will be on them and the fans will be on them.
“I expect that from the fans. If you see someone slacking, get on at them, especially if they’re not trying.
“You can never knock a footballer for giving the ball away if he tried the right ball and that’s the mentality we’re trying to kick out of the game – hammering players for the sake of it.
“The crowd’s got to be a positive crowd and a positive force that pushes players on rather than hinders them."
