Simon Ramsden looks set to miss City’s season opener.

The experienced full back has recovered from the persistent hip and groin injuries that plagued him last season but is now battling a fresh calf strain.

It kept him out of City’s final two pre-season friendlies, against Hull and Carlisle, and is likely to delay his League Two start date by another week at least.

“Ramsden is struggling at the moment and it doesn’t look like he’ll play,” said the City boss.

Injuries could provide opportunities for out-of-favour duo Robbie Threlfall and Lewis Hunt.

The defensive pair were made available for transfer less than a fortnight ago but, with no offers forthcoming, remain available should Jackson need them.
