Leeds United boss Simon Grayson revealed last night that former Elland Road midfielder Lee Bowyer was close to rejoining the club before choosing to sign for Ipswich earlier this month instead.
Grayson said: “We did talk to Lee about the possibility of coming to Leeds but he went to Ipswich for family and geographical reasons.”
Bowyer was left looking for a new club when his contract at Birmingham expired at the end of last season.
* The kick-off for United’s game at Peterborough on Saturday, October 22, has been brought forward from 3pm to 12 noon on the instruction of police.
