Silsden 0 Glossop North End 0

Silsden’s run of four straight victories came to an end at the Asda Foundation Stadium at the weekend but it was still a positive result.

Glossop’s Robert Harshorne forced the game’s first real chance when he showed a turn of pace to get behind the home defence but his shot flashed wide across the face of goal.

There were few clear cut opportunities but that was due to solid defensive work rather than it being a dull war of attrition in the middle of the park.

The game flowed but chances were snuffed out and home keeper James Mann and his counterpart Jonny McIlwaine, in the Glossop goal, were equal to anything or anyone that did get through.

Substitute Steven Heaton was on the end of two good moves for Glossop but his shots were off target.

The Cobbydalers worked hard in every department but struggled to create the same number of opportunities Heaton wasted.

Silsden press officer Jim Rosser said: “Both sides were good defensively but considering we lost 7-1 at Glossop just a few weeks ago, it has to be a good result.

“Okay, it was only a draw and nobody is taking it for granted that we are clear of relegation, but I think everyone here would have settled for ten points out of 12, four clean sheets and rising one place to fifth from bottom.”
