Eccleshill United 3 Teversal 0

A dour opening 40 minutes was soon forgotten as the Eagles began to believe they could fly high and they turned in a performance that warranted the one-sided score-line.

The fact that both teams finished with ten men was an injustice to a game that was played in the right spirit.

Eccleshill centre back Scott Price put the seal on the victory with the final goal of the game as he capped a near faultless display.

The home side broke the deadlock with a quick break on the left flank.

The visitors were caught out after appealing for a throw-in when the ball never left the field of play. Andy Howland set off on a run and cut inside before pulling the ball back to Matty Moore, who drove the ball in.

Early in the second half Howland was involved again as he had a triple effort. His first shot was blocked by keeper Jonathon Wilson, his second went under him but Wilson stopped it with a hand, only for Howland to fire goalwards again.

Wilson got a hand to that shot as well but it still passed him and centre back Ryan Gregory used his hand to help it onto the bar. That resulted in a red card for the defender before Marcus Edwards confidently stroked the spot-kick home.

Price netted the third goal with an unstoppable 55th-minute free-kick but the Eagles ended a man down after debutant Oliver Banks was shown a harsh second yellow card for an innocuous looking foul just outside Teversal’s area.
