Lenny Pidgeley is happy to hang fire over his own future until City’s position is sorted.

The former Chelsea keeper’s short-term contract is up at the end of the season – one of six senior players whose deals will need reviewing.

But Pidgeley is not going to push for a quick decision from the club.

With no guarantees on the managerial situation, Pidge-ley will wait for the dust to settle.

He said: “I haven’t spoken to the manager about anything yet. Obviously he doesn’t know what’s happening himself.

“It’s just a matter of waiting and then everything should sort itself out. I’m not going to start worrying about contracts.

“Peter Jackson coming in has not changed the mindset.”

Pidgeley joined City in October after being released by Carlisle at the end of last season.

The 27-year-old started with two clean sheets against Oxford and Bury and has made 18 appearances.

But he took a whack on the thigh in Jackson’s first victory over Rotherham, forcing him to sit out the last two games against Morecambe and Northampton.

Jon McLaughlin, who began the campaign as Peter Taylor’s first choice, has earned praise from Jackson for his performances in Pidgeley’s absence.

He also filled in when Pidgeley was floored by a virus in January and missed four matches.

Pidgeley returned to training this week and is expected to be on the bench this afternoon. And he is ready for a fight to win back the starting jersey.

He said: “I’ve played every game when I’ve been available (up to now) so I’m very happy with that.

“But the main thing at the moment is to make sure the club are safe and know where they will be next season.

“Once that has happened, we’ll look into (the contract) a bit more.”

McLaughlin said: “It’s never good to win a place back through someone getting injured or ill.

“Unfortunately for Pidge he was ruled out with the injury but that’s given me an opportunity to come in and impress the new gaffer.”
