The Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division’s top two go head to head at Throstle Nest on Saturday as leaders Farsley AFC host Bridlington Town.

Because of the international break, Farsley chairman John Palmer is offering season-ticket holders from any football club in Yorkshire a 20 per cent discount on entry for the game.

Even if their club are in the lower leagues of the professional game, but away from home this weekend, they can still take advantage.

Club spokesman James Grayson explained: “This is the biggest game at Throstle Nest over recent years, given events over the past few seasons, and John wants the locals to get behind the team. Brid are second but the gap is just six points and they have three games in hand.

“A win for Farsley would put their fate back in their own hands. The gate price is normally £5 but if people show the season ticket of the club they usually attend then it will cost them just £4 to watch this game and hopefully make them want to come back.”

Brighouse Town have struggled since the turn of the year but could turn the race for promotion to the Evo-Stik League North Division into a two-horse race.

Town head to Parkgate, who are third on the same points as Brid but having played more games. Should Mark Brier’s men win they would severely dent their hosts’ chances of catching whoever wins at the Nest.

Liversedge, who appear to have wiped out the threat of relegation, are at home to Tadcaster Albion, who appear to be out of the promotion race.

Sedge have climbed to fourth bottom with impressive recent results while Tadcaster are fifth, seven points behind Parkgate having played the same number of games.

Thackley head to Selby Town for a mid-table clash but the Dennyboys do have the incentive of staying in the top eight to qualify for the President’s Cup next season.

Eccleshill United are at home to Teversal in Division One. Following two seasons of turmoil, the Eagles would have settled for mediocrity before the campaign but will feel a little disappointed now.

Their season began so well with the inclusion of the overseas players at Mark Ellis’ Academy but those players are not available any more and Eccleshill are now down to 13th place.
