West Bowling have become the second Bradford Sunday Alliance League team through to the semi-finals of the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup.

They beat Bramley team Travellers Rest at Emsley’s Rec, and got off top a great start when, after ten minutes, a visiting player stopped a certain goal by handling the ball and the hosts were awarded a penalty and the offending player was sent off.

Jack Murphy slotted home the spot-kick and the hosts held on to their lead until the interval.

After 72 minutes, Joe Brooksbank, who had just come on as a substitute, scored with his first touch of the ball to double Bowling's lead after good work down the right from Damian Melvyn.

It is highly unlikely that in a match with 11 goals that the two outstanding players would be the goalkeepers but this happened in the Division One clash between Prince and Wyke Wanderers, with the home shot-stopper Alex Stephenson and his counterpart Ben Sharpe both in terrific form in a goalfest as they tried to make up for some terrible defending.
