Steeton escaped the latest round of West Riding County Amateur League weather postponements to move second in the PREMIER DIVISION with a 3-1 home win over Brighouse Town Reserves.

A heavy frost led to almost half the scheduled fixtures being wiped out but Steeton had no such worries as Lee Reilly, Nicky Trowers and Graham Holmes outscored Danny Toronczac.

Tyersal travelled to Hall Green United and made it three consecutive wins as Graham Sides, Andrew Bailey, Glynne Beale and substitute Gareth Carney netted in a 4-0 success. Ovenden West Riding warmed up for their League Cup game against Marsden with a 6-0 victory over the Huddersfield side. Sean Gibbons (2), Gareth Jones (2), Steve Foulard and John Booth did the damage.

Tom Mathews and Alex Slack scored twice apiece as Storthes Hall edged out basement side Tingley Athletic 4-3.

Tyersal Reserves booked their semi-final place in the DIVISION ONE CUP with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win against Wakefield City.

It had finished 3-3 after extra-time, with Len Warby, Arron Smith and Gareth Stoyles on target for Tyersal while James Ward (2) and Rob Bloomfield replied.

League high-fliers Salts, Littletown and Emley all saw their games called off, allowing Westbrook YMCA and Ventus/Yeadon Celtic to join them in the DIVISION ONE promotion race.

Westbrook climbed to third as goals from Dave Cook and Chris Foster enabled them to beat Eastmoor 2-0, while Ventus/Yeadon’s point from a 3-3 draw at Overthorpe SC lifted them to fourth.

Long Lee followed up their County FA Challenge Trophy victory over Bay Athletic Reserves with only their second DIVISION TWO win of the season.

William Lee, John Robertson and Mathew Wilson scored in the 3-1 victory at Ovenden West Riding Reserves.

Steeton Reserves had Ricardo Falconi on target as they held on for a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield YMCA.

Rawdon Old Boys missed a great chance to move second as they lost 4-3 to Tingley Athletic Reserves, who picked up their first points of the season.

Marc Cowell and Mat Bannister both scored twice for the bottom side to thwart Dave Thompson, Henry Myers and Carl McCallum.

The reserve sides of Albion Sports and Marsden continue to set the pace in DIVISION THREE.

Albion’s 5-2 win at Bronte Wanderers Reserves means they still lead the way by a point from Marsden, who saw off Lower Hopton 3-0.

Among the day’s postponed games was the much-delayed WEST RIDING COUNTY FA CHALLENGE CUP tie featuring Albion Sports against Bardsey.

Albion’s attempt to face the West Yorkshire Association Premier Division side was thwarted for the fourth time when Myra Shay was ruled unplayable.

Golcar United did manage to play their third-round tie against Thackley Reserves and won 2-0 thanks to Callum Meade’s double to set up a home game against Halifax side Hebden Roy Red Star.
