Lee Bullock column: I’m not sure if this free week is a good thing for us or not.

On the one hand, it gives people like Dave Syers and James Hanson the chance to get rid of the little strains and wear and tear they’ve been carrying.

It’s like a mini pre-season with not having a game this week and we can stock up on the fitness work.

But after the disappointment of the last two results, you also just want to get those out of the system by playing again as soon as possible.

One point from two home games is nowhere near good enough. It’s poor and unacceptable after the way we had been performing recently.

Macclesfield and Accrington seem to be two of our biggest bogey teams at Valley Parade and unfortunately it was the same old story.

But if we’ve got aspirations of doing something special this season then we must make home games count no matter who we are up against.

We were back in for training on Wednesday and there were one or two frank exchanges in the privacy of the dressing room.

There were a few honest opinions voiced that should stay inside the club. But we’ve sorted it out.

We watched a DVD of the Accrington game and saw what we did wrong and now it’s down to everyone to learn from it as we go into this break from playing.

Rest assured, we certainly won’t be having a little holiday just because there is no game on Saturday.

But it is a chance to work on certain areas without having the pressure of preparing for a match.

The last two home games have gone and we’ve got to plan to put things right at Aldershot next week.

It’s good to see Rammers back on his feet and he was doing the radio at the game in midweek.

A couple of weeks ago, he couldn’t do anything at all. I was his taxi driver, had to open the car door for him and even carried his bag because he was on crutches.

Now he’s able to walk again fine – and drive himself. Hopefully, we’ll see him back playing with us in the next six to eight weeks.

If the Bradford fans think they’ve had a tough time, spare a thought for me on Saturday. I’m going to put myself through Middlesbrough and Hull – and watching the Boro is not much fun these days.
