A number of West Riding County Amateur League games on Saturday could go a long way to showing which teams are serious title or promotion contenders – barring any interference from the predicted cold snap.
Albion Sports are two points behind Premier Division leaders and defending champions Bay Athletic and face a derby test at Wibsey.
The Westwood Park side won last season’s corresponding game 3-2 on the opening day but are now struggling at the wrong end of the table.
Bay are at home to third-bottom Hall Green United, whose 3-2 victory at Tyersal last weekend lifted them to within a point of Wibsey. Third-placed Steeton, who are five points adrift of Albion, are at Tyersal and will be looking for a better performance than when they lost to their hosts in the County FA Challenge Cup in October.
Campion, who suffered a setback last Saturday with a 2-1 home defeat to Kirkburton, travel to Lower Hopton.
Littletown, who are fourth, and second-placed Salts meet in the day’s top Division One clash.
Leaders Emley Reserves are at Heckmondwike Town, while third-placed Ventus/Yeadon Celtic travel to Wakefield to tackle third-bottom Eastmoor.
