New LIVERSEDGE boss Billy Miller will be looking for his first Northern Counties East League victory at the third attempt to ensure his side do not return to the foot of the Premier Division table.

Their basement clash on Saturday sees them heading to Hallam, who are the only club below Sedge in the table. The duo have mustered just eight points each, with the Bradford outfit having played one more game.

Miller and his players will be buoyed by their midweek victory in the League Cup. They went to promotion-chasing neighbours Brighouse Town on Tuesday night and won the second-round derby tie 4-2 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes.

Another team needing a victory are leaders FARSLEY. Just a few weeks ago they were tearing away from their rivals but they have since lost three of their last four league matches.

Neil Parsley’s men will be desperate to set the pace again and have the added carrot of being the first club to break through the 40-point barrier if they win at 14th-placed Lincoln Moorlands Railway, who are still short of hitting 20 points.

BRIGHOUSE TOWN are among the chasing pack and stayed fourth last week despite winning a closely-contested derby at Thackley.

Town have no new injury worries, so Mark Brier will have the best kind of selection headache as his side host a Long Eaton United side who are looking strong in seventh spot.

But Brighouse showed last Saturday just how dogged and determined they are and it is that attitude that sees them challenging for a second successive promotion.

THACKLEY have experienced a dip in form, their goals appear to have dried up and they dropped a place to ninth following the defeat to Town, so they need a reversal of fortune at Armthorpe Welfare.

The 15th-placed home side are averaging just a point per game this term and have played three times more than the Dennyboys.

In Division One, ECCLESHILL UNITED will be going all out to haul themselves closer to Louth Town when the Lincolnshire outfit come to the Smith-Butler Stadium.

The Eagles have had an indifferent run after a promising opening to the campaign. They have slipped into the lower half of the table, while their visitors boast seventh spot.
