Wharfedale & District FA Challenge Cup holders Otley Town were pushed to the limit in their quarter-final.

They were at Baildon Trinity Athletic, who included former Otley players Dan Jowett and Oliver Spence.

Both teams had their chances in normal time but were thwarted by in-form goalkeepers, and it wasn’t until extra time - the 104th minute - that Otley’s Chris Dowson got the only goal.

Ventus Yeadon Celtic, runners-up last season, lost 1-0 to by Pool, while Ilkley Town edged out Burley Trojans 3-2. In contrast, Rawdon Old Boys beat Addingham 12-0.

With holders Rawdon Old Boys (Sunday) having folded and beaten finalists Otley Town knocked out, there is the opportunity for a new name on the Wharfedale & District FA Sunday Cup.

Ventus United, Malt Shovel Baildon, Yeadon Veterans and Guiseley Red Lion all staked their claims by winning their second-round ties.

Pool Veterans took Ilkley Dynamo, who beat Otley Town in the first round, to extra time, while Idle United came out on top of Saltaire Rangers in an 11-goal thriller which also went to extra time.

The draw for both competitions will be on Thursday, with the Challenge Cup ties being played on Saturday, December 18 and the Sunday Cup ties on Sunday, December 19.
