Premier Division Buttershaw White Star progressed to the next round of the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup yesterday by beating fellow Bradford Sunday Alliance League side Sandy Lane, from Dvision 1B, 5-2.

But the top-flight team struggled to gain the upper hand, and with 15 minutes to the whistle the score was 2-2.

In the end it was the experience of the former league champions that told.

Jordan Missin put the hosts in front after 14 minutes but five minutes later the visitors equalised with a free-kick through Mathew Cavanagh.

Graham Sides put the Premier team in front on the half-hour, only for Josh Brooksbank to restore parity in the 65th minute.

The lower-division visitors had enough chances to win the tie but three goals in the last ten minutes through Andy Benjamin, Glyn Beal and Missin put the hosts through.

In the delayed Bradford Sunday Alliance Senior League Cup first-round tie, Ventus Sports defeated fellow Premier Division outfit Clayton Orient 6-1, Ian Horrocks netting a brace for the hosts.

There was plenty of Bradford Sunday Alliance League action, and Premier champions West Bowling edged a seven-goal encounter at Baildon Trinity Athletic, with the help of two own goals and a double from Chris Wood, the home side running the champions close thanks to a brace from Mickey Haram and a strike from Ben Craven.

A back-to-near-full-strength Bolton Woods visited Queensbury and beat them 4-0 with strikes from man of the match Chris Crelin, Jimmy Spooner, Dan Petty and Peter Dawson.

Relay Recruitment had a 3-1 victory over Oakenshaw, with Abbos Sadeghian hitting a brace and Ebad Rashid finding the net.

Division One leaders Mill Lane visited Manningham and came away with a hard-earned point, sharing six goals.

The front-runners went ahead after ten minutes through Curtis McMarne but the home side then took over and moved into a 3-1 lead through Sajid Khan, Gulfraz Sati and Quaiser Gafoor.

Manningham looked to have the points but two goals in the last ten minutes from David Pemberton and an 89th-minute equaliser from Ryan Metcalfe preserved the leaders; unbeaten record.

George Hotel and Wyke Wanderers shared two points and two goals, and Cuedos Rangers and Prince drew 2-2, Daniel Duckworth and Chris Firm being on the mark for the hosts.

Fitness coach Peter Hanson, 48, played 90 minutes due to six regular first-team players being missing for Shipley Hockney in their 4-1 victory over Unity All Stars. Rob Green notched a brace for Hockney.

Meanwhile, Jamie Brennan hit a hat-trick for Buttershaw Celtic in a 5-1 victory over Victoria Rangers, and Chris Brado garnered a brace for Thornton United in a 4-3 victory at Thornbury Celtic.

George maintained their unbeaten record but failed to improve their league position in Division 1B, sharing two goals with Saltaire Rangers, while Dudley Hill Reserves and St George's also shared the points, with Michael Murphy bagging a brace for the hosts and Lee Brannon doing likewise for the visitors.

Two goals by Sam Isles was not enough to save Prospect from defeat at Wrose Bull, who replied with goals from Andy King, Liam Brown and Ben Needham.
