Leeds have signed Sunderland left back George McCartney on a month’s loan.
McCartney cost over £5million when he moved back to Sunderland from West Ham in 2008 but has been left out in the cold this season by manager Steve Bruce at the Stadium of Light.
Belfast-born McCartney, who has 34 full caps for Northern Ireland, will come into consideration for Saturday’s home Yorkshire derby against Sheffield United.
Leeds manager Simon Grayson moved for the 29-year-old Irishman because youngster Aidan White is the only other fully fit left back in the first-team squad following an injury to Federico Bessone.
