Two of the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division’s title hopefuls go head to head on Saturday in a derby that will be mouth-watering for local supporters.

Thackley, who finished fourth last season, host Farsley AFC, who were placed in this division after forming from the remnants of Farsley Celtic when the Blue Square North outfit folded last season.

Graham Clifford, number two to Dave Morgan at Thackley, said: “This will be a very big game for us and Farsley and hopefully one to entertain the fans.

“We have continued our good run of form despite having players missing but this will be a real test of how we measure up to Farsley.”

The Dennyboys have won three league games on the trot, banging in 11 goals and conceding just two, and won through three rounds in this season’s FA Cup so are definitely on the crest of a wave.

Farsley were early leaders of the table but their progress was stalled by back to back draws. They got back to winning ways last Saturday but the performance was not to their own high standards.

Assistant manager Mark Jackson said: “We have missed skipper Dom Krief in the middle of the park. He has been out for a couple of weeks with a torn calf muscle.

“I picked up a similar injury last Saturday but I hope I came off before the damage got worse.

“That 2-1 win at home to Selby Town was not one of our better displays but getting the three points set us up nicely for going to Thackley.

“This will be a tough test for us because they are well established in this league and are pushing for promotion again.”
