Simon Grayson watched Senegal international Amdy Faye play a full 90 minutes for Leeds’ reserves against Grimsby and saw enough to consider taking the midfielder’s position further.
Faye is looking to revive his career after being released by Stoke following an injury that meant he missed most of last season.
Grayson said: “Amdy did well. We’ll have a chat with his agent and see what happens.”
A strong Leeds side, which included Davide Somma and Leigh Bromby, drew 1-1 as Ross McCormack grabbed the equaliser three minutes from time with his first goal for the club.
Meanwhile, former United striker Tresor Kandol has agreed to join Spanish second division side Albacete.
