Bradford Amateur Rowing Club triumphed in the North of England Sprint Championships at Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough, Lancashire to claim a cash prize of £500.

Myles Holbrough beat crews from Hull, Trafford, Mersey, Lees, Cambois and Lincoln and won both the J18 and IM3 single sculls.

The veteran women won the women’s masters doubles, with Sally Wood partnering Sue Cook as they raced against Sheffield and Northwich.

Cook was also part of a winning crew in the women’s masters C4+, joining Sally Gorwitz, Brenda Franklin and Steph Walden to beat Hollingworth Lake on their home water.

Alex Kent, Wood, Ariana Frankis and Julia Markham beat Agecroft to win the women’s masters A/B coxless quad event, while Bradford women also won both the IM3 and novice double sculls events.

Amy Russell and Katie Laverick beat crews from Lancaster, John O’Gaunt, Mersey, Runcorn and Tees to secure the women’s IM3.

There was an all-Bradford final for the women’s novice double sculls, with Kent and Maha El-Nasser narrowly beating Jo Dora and Rosy Hogg.

The club have come close to winning the overall prize in the past but this is the first time they have achieved the Victor Ludorum at the regatta.

Bradford now look forward to welcoming other clubs to their own regatta on Saturday, which has received 170 entries.
