Jamie Langley has urged Bulls supporters to throw their backing behind the club’s bold Pledge 10,000 scheme.

Bradford’s vice-captain is excited about the prospect of a significant bump in attendances and has assured fans they can play their part in a return to the glory days.

Two years of underachievement have caused the average attendance to dip below 9,000 this year but the club’s new initiative aims to attract 10,000 pledges for season tickets at the reduced price of £60.

“I think it’s a brilliant idea and a great scheme,” said Langley.

“The price being offered to fans is fantastic and if the target is reached then it will be great for the club as well.

“It’s been tough going the last couple of years but we have a loyal fanbase who have stuck with us through thick and thin. That’s what being a supporter is about, being there even through the bad times.

“We really appreciate that support and the scheme is reward for that.”

Signed by Bradford as a 16-year-old academy recruit in 1999, Langley was at the club throughout the Super League glory years.

A member of the Grand Final-winning team in 2005, he remembers vividly the buzz surrounding the Bulls during their time as a dominant force in the English game.

More than 13,000 fans regularly made their way through the Odsal turnstiles and Langley admits that kind of support was a big factor in attracting players to the club.

He said: “I remember being a young kid when the club first started bringing me down to games before I joined up.

“I remember sitting in the stands to watch those games and the atmosphere was unbelievable. There’s nothing else like it.

“That’s one of the reasons I wanted to play here.

“It gives you a tingle down the back of your neck and the way the crowd got behind the players was impressive.”

Moves have been made to improve performances through the appointment of coach Mick Potter and a strong recruitment drive but Langley reiterated the part the fans can play in the process.

He said: “It’s massive. When you come out for the warm-up or even approach the stadium and there’s already people turning up it makes you feel good and you know it will be a good day.

“There are times when both mentally and physically you might not have much left in the tank but when you hear the supporters get behind you it gives you that extra lift.”

Pledges can be made by calling the club on 08448-711490, by texting ‘pledge’ to 60777 or by visiting the Bulls website at www.bradford bulls.co.uk. The total number of pledges so far is just short of 5,000.
