Jamie Langley has urged Bulls supporters to throw their backing behind the club’s bold Pledge 10,000 scheme.
Bradford’s vice-captain is excited about the prospect of a significant bump in attendances and has assured fans they can play their part in a return to the glory days.
Two years of underachievement have caused the average attendance to dip below 9,000 this year but the club’s new initiative aims to attract 10,000 pledges for season tickets at the reduced price of £60.
“I think it’s a brilliant idea and a great scheme,” said Langley.
I remember sitting in the stands [as a young kid] to watch those games and the atmosphere was unbelievable. There’s nothing else like it.
Jamie Langley
“The price being offered to fans is fantastic and if the target is reached then it will be great for the club as well.
“It’s been tough going the last couple of years but we have a loyal fanbase who have stuck with us through thick and thin. That’s what being a supporter is about, being there even through the bad times.
“We really appreciate that support and the scheme is reward for that.”
Signed by Bradford as a 16-year-old academy recruit in 1999, Langley was at the club throughout the Super League glory years.
A member of the Grand Final-winning team in 2005, he remembers vividly the buzz surrounding the Bulls during their time as a dominant force in the English game.
More than 13,000 fans regularly made their way through the Odsal turnstiles and Langley admits that kind of support was a big factor in attracting players to the club.
He said: “I remember being a young kid when the club first started bringing me down to games before I joined up.
“I remember sitting in the stands to watch those games and the atmosphere was unbelievable. There’s nothing else like it.
“That’s one of the reasons I wanted to play here.
“It gives you a tingle down the back of your neck and the way the crowd got behind the players was impressive.”
Moves have been made to improve performances through the appointment of coach Mick Potter and a strong recruitment drive but Langley reiterated the part the fans can play in the process.
He said: “It’s massive. When you come out for the warm-up or even approach the stadium and there’s already people turning up it makes you feel good and you know it will be a good day.
“There are times when both mentally and physically you might not have much left in the tank but when you hear the supporters get behind you it gives you that extra lift.”
Pledges can be made by calling the club on 08448-711490, by texting ‘pledge’ to 60777 or by visiting the Bulls website at www.bradford bulls.co.uk. The total number of pledges so far is just short of 5,000.

I would say we have 5k pledges of £60 that does not include junior season tickets and as far as I am aware families only count as 1 pledge(anyone clarify) so while we saying it's poor for all we know we might have a true figure of 9k season tickets sold granted in don't change the pledge total, at least the attendances will be up

The current pledge number must surely be the number processed not the number pledged. It stayed at the same total for 3 days over the weekend - why do you think that was ? Do you think they received no pledges over those 3 days? The actual number of pledges must be higher; I suspect a lot higher.

Koppy had a serious injury (broken leg?) and they are not supermen and it takes time to get fit again and regain confidence and he is only young and will keep improving
Just a quick note on all those kopczac slaters. All season you have given him grief and then because potter resigns him he's played well in last few games. Bunch of sheep follow your shepherd.

£60 is a lot of money to watch CRAP.This friday will show how bad we are. What i want to heard is Orford will return.Leon will play S/O. Big Stu at prop, and Willie Mason to give us a bit of mongul in the pack.I don't mind who stays at the club. But if we don't improve the squad i dread to think what will become of a once mighty team

It was always going to be a struggle to reach 10'000. It's not beyond possibility but still a long way off. The simple truth is Mr Hood kept his prudence thing going far too long. Keeping "you know who"at the helm and letting things slide to the unprofessional mess it ended up in. Now he comes up with a brilliant idea of £60 a season but is about to learn the hard way. It's very easy to lose fans, especially with the bulk of them being 'floating' but trying to win them back is a different matter. Just as you wouldn't want a stale loaf for say 5p fans will want to be sure of some value for their money, even at cut price. It is a tall order which in my opinion would have been much easier had the likes of Potter been employed 12 months earlier.

baaa, humbug. as you state there are a number of us who live a fair distance from odsal, and the cost of travel to the ground is some what prohibitive. on the occaision that i go ,health permitting, i am willing to pay at the gate. as no doubt are others in the same boat. spending £60 in my case would be ridiculous. pontificating, slagging club off, that applies to hell of alot more on here. to pick out one person is ludicrous. do you include yourself, in all the pontificating, because i would.

mumby fan, re forwards, like in any sport, there are always exceptions to the rules. in general, what haitch said is correct. i should know, it took me time to establish myself at pro level, 25 when i got that chance to play first team rugbyas an hooker.

read this re my post on thackeray, looks like he may be out of contract, if bulls made him a decent offer he may be interested, ie not relying on sponsorship to pay his wages.
vikings quids inare in talks with club over services of Anthony Thackeray
VIQI has held in-depth discussions with the Widnes Vikings Club with respect to helping to retain the services of Anthony Thackeray. A way forward has been proposed by VIQI that will hopefully help the club retain Anthony's services over the coming years whilst ensuring further youngsters within the club and Halton area benefit from his skills, knowledge and passion for the game.
VIQI has put forward a proposal whereby they would sponsor Anthony to secure his signature and for him to also become a Widnes Vikings Community Development Officer, placing him within the Youth Development structure at the club in a coaching / mentoring role, assisting the Scholarship and/or u16's within the clubs coaching structure. Anthony would also become the ‘front man' for the VIQI scheme helping to raise its profile and increase its membership numbers.
Lots of fans have already expressed a desire to help the club retain the services of Anthony and ensure that he plays a key role in the coming seasons. Should the Vikings secure a Super League licence he is exactly the type of player VIQI is here to support and we believe it is essential that we do all we can to keep him at the Stobart Stadium Halton.
