Thornton clinched promotion to the top flight of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League as Division Two champions after seeing off closest challengers Barrowford by 47 runs.

Jason Lockley blasted 60 and Kev Pollard 53 in Thornton's 211, Nick Burton taking 5-44 and Danny Jones 3-79.

The Bull Holme side replied with 164-8, David Hartley scoring 44.

Foulridge join Barrowford on 31 points after an easy victory over Ingrow St John’s at Noyna.

Saints were knocked over for just 86, with A White taking 4-14 and D Spokes 3-2. The latter then made 51no to lead his side to the points by eight wickets.

Sandy Lane proved too strong for Pendle Forest at Greenwood Park. The home side made 198-8, Matthew Roberts hitting 56 as Nick Daniel claimed 5-69.

Kev Lyons made 50 for the Fence team as Luke Ellis claimed 7-77 to set up the win by 64 runs.

Long Lee took the opportunity to get some batting practice for the Wynn Cup final the following day as they hammered 244-9 at home to Wilsden.

Richard Ayrton led the charge with 80, Matt Taylor made 47 and Kenny Sejake 34. The Windy Grove side were restricted to 113-6 in their overs, Dave Collins hitting 40. Youngster Matty Stowell finished the best bowler with 3-40.

Riddlesden kept Sutton rooted to bottom place with a 122-run win. The hosts blasted 225-6 at Grange Road, with Steve Ayres scoring a fine 88, N Kamal 46 and N Hussain 57no.

In reply, the Royd Hill visitors were never in the chase and crumpled to 103 all out. Ben Simons, another junior player, offered some respite with 37 but Rishabh Jain (4-19) and Hussain (3-19) did the damage.

Chatburn’s game at Haworth West End was the only casualty to be lost to the weekend weather.

Division One leaders Bradley came a cropper at title contenders Crossflatts, who closed the gap in second spot.

The home side managed a moderate 132 in 32.5 overs, with No 8 batsman Farooq Akram making a crucial 34, Matt Simpson and James Heseltine taking three wickets each.

But for once the batting machine of the South Craveners failed to function and they were hustled out for 75. Chris Capstick was the top scorer with 20 as Mohammed Adil claimed 6-15 off 6.2 overs.

That win, and Cullingworth’s surprise defeat at home to next-to-bottom Cononley, allowed the Bradford Road side to grab second place within two points of the leaders.

Tim Starkey made 34 as Cononley posted 133-9, with Chris Welch taking 6-51. The home side slumped to their second successive defeat, making 76 as Colin Stead took 6-40 and Joe Stead 3-16.

Haworth Road’s victory at Ingrow pushed the home side into the second relegation spot. The Baildon Bottom side made 177 with Mohammed Zahid hitting 63 and Peter Rodwell 48 as Dale Hoyle took 5-77.

The Hainworth side managed 93 in reply with Zahid taking 6-33 and Andrew Gudgeon 4-31.

Glusburn were made to regret their decision to insert Bingley Congs as Neil Copping blasted 102 from 66 balls, including five sixes and 14 fours.

Evergreen Bryan Hollis bagged 7-99 off 21 overs but Congs' 213 proved more than enough.

Michael Hebden hit 74 in Glusburn’s reply but found nobody to stay with him as the innings closed on 152, Adie Dibb taking 5-47 and Copping 4-42.

There was a pulsating finish at Haworth, where visitors Oakworth got home by one wicket. The Bronte side had posted a modest 107 with youngster Jack Davidson taking 4-25 and Rob Hopkinson 3-11. Oakworth staggered to 94-9, thanks mainly to Michael Scarborough’s 37.

But the last pair scored the required runs in the 35th over with Jack Ellis finishing on 24no as Jamie Rowell took 5-31 and Richard Ellis 4-59.

Embsay’s trip to Cowling was not progressing well as they slumped to 5-3, 29-4 and 80-7. Then Has Haider was joined by Duncan Bullough, making his annual appearance, and the pair put on 94 for the eighth wicket as the score reached 174-7.

Martyn Dalby finished with 5-56 and S Hassan 4-41. The hosts then crashed for 88 as Scott Robinson took 7-40.
