Louis Moult didn’t even need to think before saying ‘yes’ to City.

The highly-rated young striker has switched Premiership for League Two after signing on a six-month loan from Stoke last week but insists the step down was never a concern.

Offered the chance to work with City boss Peter Taylor and to play at Valley Parade, the 18-year-old made up his mind in a flash.

He said: “It was an easy decision. Straight away I said ‘yes’ and I was on my way.

“I’ve played here before for Stoke reserves and I was surprised how big the ground was then. Being around the ground, it’s an impressive set-up and a massive club for League Two.

“Peter was a massive factor as well. Looking at his work with England under-21s and all that, he’s a really good manager to work with.

“I’m coming here to try and play a few games, hopefully score a few goals, and keep learning my trade. You never stop learning.”

Moult has already impressed at his new club, scoring two goals in just two 45-minute stints in City’s last two pre-season friendlies, while exhibiting a good footballing brain through his all-round play.

He said: “It’s been good. I’ve really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to the season. Once I get properly settled it’ll be even better.

“I’m quite happy with the way the gaffer’s trying to make the boys play.

“We’re trying to play football and that’s what I want. I like to drop in deep, pick the ball up and play little passes and one-twos with the players around me.”
