This week we have to make sure we’re up for the game right from the off and make an early statement.

We’ve been playing catch-up football all the time and it’s been killing us.

With players missing and others playing out of position, it’s hard for them to relax in their roles but if we get ahead it will help massively.

Catalans will be a tough challenge but their Challenge Cup semi-final next week could play a part. If we start well and get on top early it could affect them, with one eye on the cup.

They seem to be putting it together a little bit now and playing with more confidence, especially during their win against Warrington last week.

They obviously looked at areas to strengthen and half-back was one of those, so they brought in Brent Sherwin and he seems to have found a new lease of life over there.

Although they’ve always had a good set of forwards, they needed someone to lead them around and help out Thomas Bosc and Sherwin’s done that.

We know they can hurt us given the chance and the tries we’ve been conceding recently are mainly poor tries so it’s about everyone staying focused and making sure the mistakes don’t keep happening.

It’s an individual thing so it’s up to each man to make sure they do their bit.

Even though we’ve been struggling, you have to be impressed with the way the young lads have come in and done a job.

When I first broke into the team it couldn’t have been more different. I came into a team full of internationals and it was a tough task trying to earn a place.

These lads have got their chance due to the situation but they’ve generally taken the opportunity.

Vinny Finigan’s a great example, having scored four tries in his two games, and although they’ve all got plenty to work on still, their ability to step up bodes well for us.
